Delhi gets its highest monumental flagpole

New Delhi: Shri Naveen Jindal, MP and President of the Flag Foundation of India, hoisted the largest flag in the country and highest flagpole in Delhi, measuring 207 ft. in height, at Central Park in Connaught Place today(March 7). The monumental flag measures 60 ft. in width and 90 ft. in length and weighs 35 kg.

The hoisting of mammoth sized flag at Central Park is part of Flag Foundation of India’s initiative to inspire Indians to take pride in displaying the National Flag and instill sense of nationalism and patriotism amongst the citizens of the country.

After the hoisting, Shri Naveen Jindal said, “The Tiranga enshrines the very soul of our Republic and Constitution, and is evocative of the tireless struggle of lakhs of people who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom. Thus, it has been a constant endeavour of Flag Foundation of India to inspire young Indians to take pride in displaying the Tricolour. It is for the younger generation of today to keep the flag flying high, keeping in mind the principles the flag stands for. I am very happy that Delhi has got its first monumental flag today and this is the 12th amongst the 207 ft. monumental flag in the country.”

Connaught Place is an iconic area in the Capital and the Central Park its landmark. Aesthetically landscaped and designed, the Central Park was our obvious choice to hoist Delhi’s tallest flagpole as it will add colour to the skyline of CP. At a height of 207 ft., it will be visible from afar and make you feel proud of being an Indian. A visit to the Capital is incomplete for any tourist without visiting Connaught Place and the monumental flag will become a future tourist attraction.” he added.

The monumental flag is made of knitted polyster fabric called ‘Deneir Polyester’ manufactured in Mumbai by the ‘Flag Shop’. The Chakra of the flag has been painted by using specialized printing process.
The concept of monumental flagpoles in India was conceived and introduced by the founder of the Flag Foundation, Shri Naveen Jindal, in 2009. The first monumental flagpole measuring 207 ft. in height was installed at Kaithal, Haryana. Ever since, the Foundation has installed such flagpoles at 12 places in the country.
Flag Foundation of India has so far established thirty-three 100 ft. tall flagpoles across the country, and in all there are now 46 such monumental flagpoles, which is the highest number in the world. Besides India, there are 11 more countries, which have got such monumental flagpoles.

Executive Education Healthcare Management Program in the Naveen Jindal School of Management

The Executive Education Healthcare Management Program in the Naveen Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas and VitreosHealth, an innovative provider of predictive population management software, have developed a collaborative relationship to encourage practicing physicians to adopt new business and practice management methods that promise to enhance their effectiveness as healthcare delivery and reimbursement changes focus more on the health and wellness of patient populations as well as individual patients.

Dr. Michael Deegan, Clinical Professor for Healthcare Leadership & Innovation at the Jindal School, collaborated with a national medical professional society, to design, develop and deliver a unique asynchronous online leadership & management course for practicing physicians.
The ten-month certificate program has a number of unique aspects including:
  • Asynchronous online content delivery allowing participants flexibility regarding where and when they choose to study
  • Multiple learning resources including video, case studies, articles, and active online exchanges between participants and faculty
  • Innovative content that develops the personal awareness, competencies and skills. Physicians need to achieve a competitive advantage in today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment
VitreosHealth’s (formerly PSCI Solutions) leaders were intrigued when they learned about this new educational program because they were finding potential clients had knowledge gaps regarding what it will take to successful transition from traditional fee-for-service care reimbursement models to risk / quality based care delivery and financing alternatives like bundled reimbursement, accountable care organizations and comprehensive capitation models.
They found the UT Dallas Healthcare Leadership & Management Program for Physicians has identified and addressed many of these gaps and plan on encouraging current and potential clients to enroll key organizational physician leaders in the program.

“We will offer the online UT Dallas Healthcare Leadership & Management Program to all our customers as a part of our bundled solution. Based on our customer experiences and needs, it is clear that physician education is critical for their engagement in a successful Population Health program,” said Jay Reddy, CEO of VitreosHealth.
At present the two organizations are working together to build awareness of the educational program among VitreosHealth’s clients and healthcare provider organizations. They are also exploring joint conferences and internship programs for UT Dallas students.

Naveen Jindal- Biography

A crusader for the Indian national flag, an advocate of women and child rights, a philanthropist, a parliamentarian, a politician, a successful industrialist, and a sportsman par excellence…that’s Naveen Jindal for you.

A man of myriad talents, Naveen stands out for his sense of commitment, responsibility, dedication, honesty, integrity and sheer passion in all his undertakings.

Born in Hisar, Haryana, on 9 March 1970, Naveen is the youngest child of the industrialist-philanthropist-politician Om Prakash Jindal and his wife Savitri. He studied at the Delhi Public School (Mathura Road), New Delhi, before graduating in Commerce from Hans Raj College, Delhi University, in 1990. He subsequently completed an MBA degree from the University of Texas at Dallas, in 1992. His penchant for leadership became evident during his student days. He was the President of the Student Government and recipient of the ‘Student Leader of the Year Award’ at the university.

On his return to India, Naveen began managing his father’s political affairs. In 2004 he stood for elections from Kurukshetra on a Congress party ticket and won, beating his nearest rival Abhay Singh Chautala by 1.6 lakh votes. He repeated the feat in 2009.

While Naveen is a two-time Member of Parliament from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana, he is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power Limited, which is a part of the $15 billion diversified O.P. Jindal Group. Naveen’s hard work and business acumen demands applause, for he has transformed the once moderately performing enterprise to the organisation that today operates as the world’s largest coal-based sponge iron manufacturing plant in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, in addition to plants in Jharkhand and Odisha.

He is also the Chairman of Jindal Power Limited, a subsidiary of JSPL, which runs the 1,000 MW O.P. Jindal Thermal Power Plant in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh – India’s first such 1,000 MW plant in the private sector. Going beyond his own constituency, Naveen has championed the causes of education, healthcare and the upliftment of weaker sections across Haryana, and in the vicinity of his factories in other parts of India. He has set up hospitals and schools, adopted villages and is an active campaigner for women’s empowerment, health and education. In 2011 Naveen added another feather in his cap by establishing the ‘Citizens’ Alliance for Reproductive Health and Rights’, an organisation that brings together politicians, media persons and NGOs in a bid to spread awareness about family planning, maternal and child mortality, and related issues. Naveen is a true social entrepreneur. He is a people person. He can effortlessly relate to thousands of other people, and is driven to help those who are in need. His numerous social initiatives have led to an overall improvement in the quality of life in all regions where he has business interests, and beyond.

For those who may not know, Naveen is the man who is single-handedly responsible for making the Tiranga more accessible to the average citizen. His unrelenting legal and political campaign led to a revision of the Flag Code of India which now grants every private citizen the right to fly the Indian National Flag publicly with dignity and honour on all days of the year. The Flag Foundation of India that he founded along with his wife is an effort to foster respect for the Tiranga and the values it embodies among Indian youth.
It is not surprising to learn that in 2011 his unrelenting support to his alma mater was recognised in a unique way, as the University of Texas at Dallas renamed its ‘School of Management’ as ‘The Naveen Jindal School of Management.’ A special acknowledgement for a special person indeed.

He is also an international level shooting champion who has represented India on numerous national and international platforms including the Asian Games. Naveen is also an avid polo player. Naveen’s mother is currently a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Hisar and is the Chairperson Emeritus of Jindal Steel and Power Limited and JSW Steel. He has eight siblings: sisters Saroj Bhartia, Nirmala Goel, Urmila Bhuwalka, Sarika Jhunjhunwala and Seema Jajodia; and brothers Prithviraj, Sajjan and Rattan Jindal who are also industrialists.

Naveen is married to accomplished Kuchipudi dancer Shallu Jindal. The couple has a son and a daughter and they live in Delhi and Kurukshetra.

Naveen Jindal is a charismatic, dynamic, and a down-to-earth human being who lives life intensely. He is sincerely determined to reach out to the masses and bring about a positive change in the lives of those he touches.
